A man of New Jersey, was arrested after pretending to be the attorney of his landlord during court proceedings.
Officials in Bergen County, have arrested the man who pretended to be the lawyer of his landlord to avoid being thrown out of his apartment.
Vernon Scott, 45, was summoned to appear at the Superior Court for an eviction process. However, before his appearance, the court receive faxed documents, claiming to be from the landlord’s attorney, looking to postpone or terminate the eviction process.
When officials looked closer, they realized that the documents were falsified.
According to the arrest report, a review of the information in the header and footer of the fax revealed that the documents came from Scott.
Scott was charged with three counts of uttering a forged document, three counts of wrongful impersonation and one count of tampering with public records or information. His bail was set at $25,000.
