A mother was arrested on a charge of child abuse after taking away her daughter’s cellphone because the girl took her car without permission, police in Florida said.
The Manatee County Sheriff’s Office said that they have arrested 30-year-old Sonia Gutierrez, after being accused of throwing her daughter on a bed and taking away her cellphone.
Gutierrez, who works as a waitress, was charged with child abuse without great harm. She was booked into the Manatee County jail, and her bail was set at $1,500.
According to the police investigation, Gutierrez took the phone away from her daughter on Monday afternoon, as punishment for taking the car without permission.
The girl resisted, and Gutierrez pulled her daughter’s hair and threw her onto a bed. The girl then tried to leave the house, but Gutierrez locked the door and refused to let her out.
When the girl pushed her way to the door, Gutierrez grabbed her left wrist in a painful manner.
