A 15-year-old girl was arrested on a charge of attempted murder after stabbing her 16-year-old boyfriend because he sent a message to a girl on Facebook, police in the United Kingdom said.

Now, the girl who was not identified, was sentenced to serve 6 years in prison after being convicted of wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm at the Reading Crown Court.

She was found not guilty of attempted murder. According to the police investigation, the boy met his girlfriend on Granville Road.

The girl was armed with a kitchen knife, which she concealed in her hoodie. As she approached the boy, she produced the knife and stabbed him in the chest.

The boy, who received a life threatening injury to his chest, ran home and called an ambulance, but collapsed on his doorstep before help arrived.

He was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in a critical condition, underwent emergency surgery and was placed in an induced coma.

The boy has not yet recovered from the incident.

The court heard that the attack was motivated after the girl accused her boyfriend of sending a message to another girl on Facebook.

The girl claimed that she stabbed the boy in self defense. When questioned by police, all she said was “no comment.”
