A school owner and a principal were arrested on a charge of murder after several teachers beat a boy to death because he stepped off school grounds for a minute to say goodbye to his parents, police in India said.
Majlishpur police said that they have arrested principal Hanif Sheikh and owner Shahzada Al Mamun, after teachers at the Al Islamia Mission School, beat to death 13-year-old Shamim Mullick.
They were both charged with murder. They were booked into jail, and denied bail.
According to the police investigation, the parents of Mullick, visited their only son at the private school on Monday morning.
Mullick walked with his parents to the school gate before stepping off of the premises to give a goodbye wave. When Mullick returned to school, the teachers were furious that he had not asked for permission to leave.
The boy was then severely beaten. After he lost consciousness, the boy was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The hospital called the parents to let them know that their son was dead. The parents called the school, and they were told that their son suddenly died while studying.
However, doctors called the police to report that the boy was beaten to death.
