(Scroll down for video) A woman was slapped with a fine for using an electronic device while driving after slamming into a police car while texting her friend.
Police saw a text message on the woman’s phone in which she confessed to being responsible for the accident, police in Canada said.
Victoria police said that the text message that was sent from the woman’s mobile phone held the confession of the driver responsible for rear-ending a police cruiser.
Police said that the crash occurred on Saturday night at a busy intersection.
Police got hold of the driver’s phone, and she had a text message that read: “I just got in an accident. I was trying to text you and ran into a police car.”
The police officer and his dog were unharmed, but the woman and her child were taken to hospital with injuries that were not considered life threatening.
The suspect’s car suffered damage to its front end, and the driver got a fine for $167 for using an electronic device while driving.
