(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested one charge of rape after allegedly raping and beating two young women on a deserted beach, police in Australia said.
Adelaide police said that they have arrested the 59-year-old man, who was not identified, after the two 20-year-old women were discovered covered in blood on the beach in Salt Creek.
He was charged with kidnapping, attempted murder and rape.
He was booked into jail, and was denied bail.
According to the police investigation, the young women, who were touring across the country, met the suspect and agreed to go camping with him.
Around 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, one of the women was found running naked and bloodied towards a group of fishermen and asked for help.
The other woman was found almost unconscious and unable to speak. One of the women is believed to have been hit on the head with a hammer while the other was run over with a vehicle.
The 59-year-old man of Morphett Vale, was arrested in the Coorong National Park on Tuesday, and the women were taken to the Flinders Medical Centre with serious injuries.
They are expected to recover.
