(Scroll down for video) A family in New York, is heartbroken over the sudden loss of a 12-year-old girl.
Gabrielle Johnson of Elton, Long Island, was walking to school with her twin sister when she was struck by a passing car.
The seventh grade girl was killed on Monday morning, while running across the road to get to school with her twin sister Courtney.
The 12-year-old girl was hit by a car around 7:30 a.m., while running across the road to get to the Elmont Memorial Junior-Senior High School.
Police said that the victim was crossing the busy street with her twin sister and another girl, but they did not use a crosswalk. A car that had a green light did not see the girls before it was too late.
The 38-year-old driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and cooperated with police, and is not expected to be charged with a crime.
Gabrielle Johnson’s older sister Paula, said that they lost their little brother in 2002 to a drunk driver, and now Gabby’s gone, she said.
