(Scroll down for video) Four members of an up and coming band in the United Kingdom, died along with their manager after the car that was transporting them crashed into a canal.
The Viola Beach band of Warrington, Cheshire, died just hours after playing their first ever gig outside of the country.
Kris Leonard, River Reeves, Tomas Lowe, Jack Dakin and their manager Craig Tarry, all aged between 20 and 33, died on impact.
The group had performed in Norrkoping, Sweden, before they got into the car that was hired to drive them around. The car crashed into the Sodertalje canal about 2:00 a.m. on Saturday.
Police said that the driver passed a security barrier of the bridge, which was closed, to allow a boat to sail through. The car plunged 82 feet into the canal below.
Witness Jonny Alexandersson said that while he was waiting for the boat to pass and the bridge to reopen, the group’s car suddenly drove past him and smashed into the barrier.
Alexandersson said that the driver was going about 45 to 50 miles per hour before he plunged into the gap that was left open for the boat to pass.
