(Scroll down for video) A family is grieving the loss of a father and his young son who were inseparable.
The father and his four-year-old son of Michigan, died after falling through ice on a lake while on a fishing trip with friends, according to police.
David Michael Lyons, 30, and his son Jackson, were about 10 feet from shore when they fell through the ice of Lake Alderman, which is located about 40 miles from Detroit.
Police said that the father and son were under water for about 15 minutes before they were pulled out by a team of divers.
The two were rushed to a hospital, but both died a few hours apart. Facebook photos show the father and son doing many activities together.
The Assistant Highland Township fire chief said that the father and son were wearing snowmobile suits, which became heavy in the water. They did not wear life jackets.
