Pocono Mountain Regional police said that they have arrested 34-year-old William Hayhurst and 30-year-old Erin Vanmatre, after being accused of stealing the purse of the 81-year-old woman, who was not identified.

The two suspects were charged with robbery, conspiracy, theft, tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property. They were booked into the Monroe County jail, and bail was set at $50,000 each.

According to the police investigation, around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, the two suspects approached the 81-year-old woman, and asked her for $10 in gas money.

The woman gave them $20 because she did not have a $10 note. As the old woman drove away, the couple followed her with their car.

When the old woman parked her vehicle, the suspects grabbed the purse from her and escaped. As the couple tried to drive away, the woman rammed her vehicle into their car.

The thieves then threw her purse out from the window.
