According the police investigation, on the day of the murder, Palmer told her friends that her boyfriend was spending an enormous amount of time speaking to girls on Facebook.

She complained that he ignored her all the time because he was too busy with other women.

Around 12:00 a.m., Palmer decided to dump her boyfriend, and around 1:30 a.m., Searson was pronounced dead from a stab wound to the chest.

Palmer first told police that her boyfriend stabbed himself. She then changed her story, saying that she threw the knife at him because he wanted to use it to repair his phone.
