People in the United Kingdom, are outraged over the death of a dog that was deliberately run over by police.

After public outcry, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) said it will launch an investigation into the actions of the police.

North Wales Police said that they have received a call at 3:00 a.m., to report a dog running loose in Conwy. The dog was seen running toward oncoming traffic between the Llanfairfechan roundabout and the Conwy tunnel.

Officers tried to capture the dog before it could cause a car crash. However, the dog ran too fast and officers were unable to catch it.

It was then decided that the dog needs to be stopped at any cost. The officers were given the go ahead to use their car as a weapon to kill the dog.

The officers ran over the dog with their car, killing it instantly. Chief Inspector Darren Wareing said they “did not take this decision lightly.”

After officers could not bring the dog under control, the only safe option was to destroy it, police said.
