(Scroll down for video) Workers at a car dealership are heartbroken over the sudden loss of their coworker and friend.
43-year-old Warren Smale of Ontario, California, died during a routine test drive that ended in a high-speed crash.
Smale, who worked at the CarMax, was helping customer Alex Demetro, who was looking for a Corvette. When the customer wanted to test drive the car, Smale agreed.
Witnesses said that Demetro was going 70 miles per hour before crashing into a tree on Mercedes Lane on Tuesday afternoon.
Firefighters removed the salesman from the wreckage. He was rushed to a hospital, where he died. Demetro suffered only minor injuries.
Demetro was arrested and is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving while under the influence of drugs, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
