(Scroll down for video) People in India, are seen walking around the streets with colorful necklaces.

Police said that they are now cracking down on people who urinate on the streets.

During this new campaign in the city of Hyderabad, traffic officers are walking around the streets looking for people who are relieving themselves on the side of the road.

Once the offenders are caught, they are brought in front of a group of officers and a camera. The officers then place the brightly colored necklaces on them.

While some people saw the humor, others immediately removed them and refused to wear the “necklace of shame,” but they all get the message, which is to keep the city clean.

Insp Rama Swamy said that he got the idea after seeing social workers doing something similar in Delhi, several years ago.

About fifteen people were given necklaces of shame on the first day, according to the police.

Swamy said that officers are also handing out chocolates to drivers of scooters who wear helmets in an attempt to persuade others to do the same.
