A man self-mutilated in an attempt to avoid arrest.
Police in Tampa, Florida, were looking for a suspect for the past six months, but were unable to locate him.
The suspect was finally arrested when he was pulled over at 3:00 a.m. by police in Ohio. The car had expired tags.
Police said that 24-year-old Kirk Kelly, gave false names as they tried to identify him. Tallmadge police said that they recognized his tattoos from a photo that was sent to them by the police in Florida.
Kelly was wanted on a charge of violating probation for selling drugs and firearms.
Chief Ronald Williams said that when Kelly heard that officers were preparing to scan his fingerprints on a portable device, he bit off the skin of his fingertips.
Kelly was arrested on charges of tampering with evidence, obstructing official business, falsification and resisting arrest.
