A husband who was angry with his wife, called the police to report that she was cursing the country’s president, a crime punishable by up to four years in prison, police in Turkey said.
Ali Dinc of Izmir, said that he called the police on Friday, after getting tired of the repeated cursing by his wife Gulcan.
Dinc decided to record his wife’s cursing after she ignored his warning to stop. Gulcan supports the opposition party while Dinc is loyal to President Tayyip Erdogan.
It is illegal to curse a president. Anyone convicted of the crime faces up to four years in prison for each offense. Not surprisingly, after being arrested, Gulcan filed for divorce.
Dinc revealed that despite his broken marriage, he does not regret reporting his wife to the police because she must respect Erdogan, who transformed the country.
