A man was arrested on a charge of possession of cocaine after police allegedly found a bag of cocaine in his mouth, police in Florida said.
Vero Beach police said that they have arrested 45-year-old Eric Lamont Smith, who is homeless, after being caught sleeping in a stairwell with the bag of cocaine in his mouth.
Smith was charged with one count of possession of cocaine, and was booked into the Indian River County Jail.
According to the police investigation, around 12:50 a.m. on Monday, police went to an apartment building in the 2000 block of 11th Avenue, for a report of a man sleeping on the top of the stairs.
Police found Smith sleeping on top of the stairs. When police woke him, Smith turned around and a bag with cocaine fell out of his mouth.
Smith told police that the cocaine did not belong to him, and he does not know how it ended up in his mouth.
