Police arrested a man who was run over by a car, following an unprovoked attack on a little child, police in Australia said.

Sydney police said that the 37-year-old man, who was not identified, spat in the face of a 4-month-old baby who was being pushed in a carriage.

According to the police investigation, the four-month-old child was being pushed on Corona Street around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The suspect suddenly approached the baby carriage, leaned inside and spat at the child’s face. The child’s grandfather who witnessed the attack, chased the suspect.

The suspect then ran into the street and into oncoming traffic.

He was run over by a car, but he managed to pick himself up and run away from the scene. Police searched for the suspect in the area, but they were unable to locate him.

On Tuesday, police located the suspect. He was arrested on a charge of assault. He was booked into jail and denied bail.
