Plumbers in Canada, said they almost threw away a gold bar while doing renovations in a bathroom.

Alif Babul and his employee Dean Materi of Calgary, Alberta, literally struck gold after finding the bar while renovating the bathroom of a client.

The workers found the gold that weighs 2.2 pounds under a pile of rubble and nearly threw it away.

Materi said that while he was clearing debris, he spotted a shiny gold object on the floor, which he thought was a copper lamp, but when he scooped it up, it seemed a bit too heavy.

When he investigated, Materi realized that it was a gold bar. He later discovered that it had a value of about $50,000.

Although both men were initially excited about the potential windfall, they ultimately decided to return the gold bar to its owners.

Babul said that he has found valuable items while working before, but they have return the items, he said.
