(Scroll down for video) Family members in Washington DC, who came to their grandmother’s funeral, were shocked to find another woman dressed in their loved one’s clothes.
The family members of 83-year-old Virginia Gray, said that the Horton’s Funeral Home, lost the body and decided to replace her with another woman.
The incident unfolded on Friday.
Gray lost consciousness in her home located on Dix Street NE, and was taken to the Prince George’s Hospital Center, where she died.
Gray left behind a daughter, four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
When the grandchildren arrived at the funeral home, the woman in the coffin was not Gray, but she was wearing clothes that they brought for her grandmother.
The Prince George’s Hospital Center said that they are sure Gray was released to the funeral home.
The funeral home said that the body in the casket was Gray, but she looked different to her grandchildren because of the makeup and lighting.
The grandchildren called Gray’s doctor, who confirmed that the body was their grandmother.
