27-year-old Georgia Carter of Richmond, was hired to work at KFC, but was terminated after several hours.
The manager, who learned that Carter was listed as a male on her driver’s license, told her not to come to work the following day.
The manager told Carter that his supervisor had a problem because there was no bathroom for transgender people in the restaurant.
When corporate headquarters learned about the incident, the manager was fired for violating the company’s policy against discrimination.
KFC supports gender equality, a company spokesperson said.
KFC does not tolerate discrimination of any kind, and Carter was offered employment at any restaurants in Richmond. KFC also promised additional training in order to ensure that this does not happen again.
