(Scroll down for video) A jealous husband was jailed after he shot his wife with the rifle that he bought her as a birthday gift a few months earlier.

The Joint Base Lewis-McChord soldier (JBLM) shot his 19-year-old wife, Danielle, in the back of the head with an assault rifle while she was sitting at her computer.

Prosecutors said that 21-year-old Skylar Nemetz of Tacoma, Washington, killed his wife because he thought she was cheating when another man bought her liquor.

Prosecutors were looking for a conviction of first-degree murder. However, a jury found him guilty of first-degree manslaughter with a firearm enhancement.

The jury believed that Nemetz did not intend to kill his wife because he thought that the gun was unloaded before shooting her.

After he was arrested, Nemetz told police that he unloaded the weapon and placed the bullets on the bed.

Unfortunately, their was one bullet left, and Danielle died of a single gunshot wound to the head. Nemetz said that his life was ruined on that day, because he lost his wife and best friend.

Nemetz is facing 13 years in prison when he is sentenced.
