Woman starves to death after maintenance workers close elevator for a month trapping her inside

Maintenance workers in China, were shocked to find a dead woman inside an elevator that has been out of service for a month.

Xi’an police said that they have launched an investigation on a charge of negligent homicide after the 40-year-old woman identified as Wu, starved to death inside the non-working elevator.

So far, on person has been arrested in connection with the death of Wu.

The property manager told investigators that the elevator was brought to the first floor of the building, where it was sealed off for maintenance work.

The workers claimed that they have confirmed that there was nobody inside before shutting down the elevator.

However, investigators believe that the workers simply shouted to see if there was anyone inside and did not open the door for a visual inspection.

Police said that there was evidence that the woman tried to force open the doors, but she was not successful.
