A woman said that she tells her son that “he is a survivor” after he survived an abortion.

24-year-old Vicky Harper of Scotland, was devastated when she became pregnant by her 19-year-old boyfriend.

Harper, who was already a mother two children, said that she accidentally conceived when she forgot to take her pill.

Harper, a full-time mother to 2-year-old Ross, and Leyla, 5, said that she made the agonizing decision to abort the baby since she knew she cannot afford to take care of another child.

She also thought that she will not be able to cope with caring for three young children. Although her teenage partner,
Keenan McIvor, said that he will help her with the child, she decided to go ahead with the abortion.

Harper opted for a surgical termination, which involves the baby being removed via a vacuum. The procedure was performed by a doctor in training with the supervision of another doctor.

However, Harper soon felt nauseous and unwell, since she already has two children, she recognized the symptoms as pregnancy.

She took a pregnancy test, which showed that she was still pregnant. Doctors assured her that it was the hormones, which were still present in her body.

After she did not get her period for a couple of months, Harper returned to the doctor who confirmed that her baby was still inside and she was 16 weeks pregnant.

Harper was informed of the risk of having an abortion at that stage, which included a small chance of her death. Unwilling to take that chance, Harper went on to have the baby.

Doctors also informed her that babies born after failed abortions can suffer health problems or deformities.

Luckily, her baby was born at 6 pounds and 15 ounces, healthy and beautiful.

She said that she loves her newborn son Jack, more than she thought possible.

“He’s special and he’ll always know just how much he’s loved,” Harper said.

Harper said that she is adamant to tell Jack about the ordeal as soon as he is old enough to understand because she wants him to hear it from her as opposed to from anyone else.

When asked how a mother can tell her child that he was never wanted, she said: “all I can tell him is that he is a survivor and that I love him more than I ever thought possible.”
