Education officials in Japan, have launched an investigation after a school principal told hundreds of girls that having children is more important than going to college and having a career.
Hisao Terai, the principal of a public high school in Osaka, told 600 students that the most important thing for a woman is giving birth to two or more children.
Terai emphasized that it is more valuable than building a career and going to college. The board of education is considering taking disciplinary action against Terai because of his statements.
When Terai was questioned about statements, he told the board that he sees nothing wrong with his comments and added that the greatest joy for women is having children.
Terai also said that if women will have a lot of children before going to college, the falling population crisis will be solved.
Last month, the government revealed the country’s population fell by nearly one million over the past five years.
