Man sets fire to former girlfriend’s home by stuffing her lover’s underpants in toaster

An jilted man of the United Kingdom, was arrested on charges of reckless arson after he set his former girlfriend’s home on fire using underpants.

29-year-old Dean Buxton broke into the home of his former girlfriend in Devon, and vandalized her property.

The Plymouth Crown Court heard how Buxton, forced his way into the woman’s apartment at 11:00 p.m. on Sunday night.

In the home, he found a pair of underpants belonging to his former girlfriend’s new man. He grabbed the underpants and went to the kitchen, where he stuffed it into the toaster and turned it on.

The underpants caught on fire and it caused damage. Firefighters were called to clear the smoke from the house.

He also used a knife to slash his former girlfriend’s bed.

Buxton pleaded guilty to burglary with intent to cause damage. Prosecutors agreed to drop the more serious charge of reckless arson where life was endangered.

Buxton is being held without bail pending sentencing.
