(Scroll down for video) Police in Missouri, are defending themselves against critics after releasing a video that shows them making meth.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was left embarrassed after the video was leaked, showing them giving a step-by-step demonstration on how to cook meth.

While many people are criticising the police over the video, Jason Grellner, president of the Missouri Narcotics Officers Association, said that the video is being used to train police officers, firefighters and first responders.

Grellner explained that police find about 3,000 meth labs each year in Missouri. Officers needed to be aware of how a meth lab looks and the ingredients used so they can identify the lab when entering a house.

He explained that firefighters and first responders also need to be aware of the dangers of a meth lab and protect themselves when they respond to a home that has a meth lab.

Police also said that there are many videos, showing how to make meth. They are now investigating how the video was leaked.
