A couple was arrested on a charge of assault after pouring acid on a man who was unable to move his car, police in the United Kingdom said.
Now, 30-year-old Ashley Russell and 32-year-old Christina Storey of Essex, have been found guilty of assault with intent to burn, maim, disfigure, disable or to do some grievous bodily harm in connection with the acid attack against 29-year-old Darren Pidgeon.
Russell was sentenced to serve 12 years in prison while Storey was sentenced to eight years. According to the police investigation, Storey followed Pidgeon’s car into a dead end street and blocked him in.
Russell, who was a passenger in Storey’s car, got out and squirted acid at Pidgeon through his open car window. Pidgeon was unable to drive because there was a car in front of him.
Pidgeon suffered third degree burns to the right side of his face, shoulder, forearm and wrist. The attack left Pidgeon with injuries, which required skin grafts, and he will be left with lifelong scars.
