(Scroll down for video) Police were called to the scene of an explosion after a man’s leg was cut off, police in Georgia said.

The Walton County Sheriff’s Office said that 32-year-old David Thomas Presley, was rushed to the Grady Hospital in Atlanta, after shooting a bullet into his lawnmower, causing an explosion.

According to the police, the incident unfolded around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.

Presley was on his property on Emmett Doster Road, when he and a group of friends used three pounds of tannerite to blow up the lawnmower.

Presley then fired his gun to ignite the tannerite. Unfortunately, a piece of metal cut off Presley’s leg.

The friends recorded the explosion, and the video showed that Presley was standing about 30 yards from the lawnmower when it exploded.

“The dangers of tannerite were more than words on Saturday afternoon for a 32-year-old resident of eastern Walton county. He was dangerously close to the object containing the tannerite when the final gun shot round caused it to explode, sending a piece of shrapnel through his leg, severing it below the knee.

“Yes, it completely took off his leg. Please adhere to the warnings and use this dangerous material with caution or maybe consider other less dangerous hobbies. It’s just not worth it for a loud boom,” the Walton County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
