Bennet’s 9-year-old son told a Richmond County Sheriff’s deputy that he was asleep when the fire broke out, but his sister woke him up and he was able to put out the fire.
When officers arrived, the three children were in a room on the second floor looking out the window.
The 9-year-old boy said that his mother is coming home at 4:00 p.m. Bennett told officers that a neighbor was supposed to keep an eye on them, but the neighbor was not home when the fire started.
