A man was arrested on a charge of murder after allegedly stabbing a store owner to death for wishing his Christian customers a happy Easter, police in Scotland said.
Glasgow police said that they have arrested the 32-year-old man, who was not identified, after stabbing 40-year-old Asad Shah more than 30 times.
According to the police investigation, Shah wished his Christian customers a happy Easter on Thursday. Mohammad Faisal told investigators that the suspect had a beard and was dressed in a long robe.
He entered the store, spoke in Arabic before pulling out a knife.
He then stabbed the victim in the head. Shah’s brother, who works next door, ran into the store to help his brother. He saw the suspect laughing while sitting on the bleeding victim.
It was just a clear revenge attack for posting messages about peace with Christians, Faisal said.
