(Scroll down for video) A cat in the United Kingdom, is lucky to be alive after suffering dehydration and malnutrition following a 260-mile journey sealed inside a box.
The cat named Cupcake, was accidentally sealed inside a box containing DVDs and shipped from Falmouth, Cornwall to Worthing, West Sussex.
When the box arrived at the destination, the receiver was shocked to see the barely conscious cat. Cupcake was taken to the Grove Lodge Vets in Worthing, and was treated for severe dehydration and malnutrition.
Cupcake’s owner Julie Baggott, said that she looked everywhere for her cat after it went missing.
She was scared until getting a call from RSPCA (Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), saying that her cat was found in the box of DVDs.
RSPCA tracked her down using the cat’s microchip. The cat was reunited with its owner after being released from the vet.
“Two weeks ago, the owners of a beautiful Siamese cat packaged up some DVDs to send to Worthing, West Sussex. The parcel was sealed and posted from Falmouth in Cornwall, arriving safely at its destination some 8 days after it had been sent.
“Imagine how surprised the recipient was when along with the anticipated DVDs, an elegant Siamese cat emerged from the box. This person was somewhat startled, not expecting to receive a free cat along with the order of DVDs.
“The stunned buyer contacted the RSPCA, who collected the cat and brought it to Grove Lodge Vets for a thorough health check. On arrival, we scanned the cat to check for a microchip. Everyone was delighted and even more so when we found that the contact details were up to date and we were able to contact her owners straightaway,” the Grove Lodge Vets said in a statement.
