(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested on a warrant for not returning a VHS tape to a store that is no longer open for business.
James Meyers, of Concord, North Carolina, said that he was pulled over by police over a broken tail light.
Meyers said that he was driving his daughter to school about 7:30 a.m., when he was pulled over.
The officer asked for his driver’s license and ran it through the system. The officer then ordered Meyers to get out of the car. The officer then informed him that he had a warrant out for his arrest.
Meyers was shocked and demanded to see the warrant. The officer showed him that he was wanted because he rented a movie called “Freddy Got Fingered” 14 years ago, and he never returned it.
The movie is about Gord Brody, played by actor Tom Green, who is a struggling cartoonist trying to pitch an animated show to Hollywood executives, but failed.
Luckily, the officer did not arrest the father in front of his daughter, but he later turned himself into police and he was arrested.
Meyers faces a fine of $200. When actor Tom Green heard about the arrest, he called Meyers and offered to pay the fine.
Mayers said that he lost 6 friends to heroin overdose. However, he said that the police department is not out there fighting drugs, and instead, they are serving warrants for not returning old VHS tapes.
