A biker stumbled upon a gruesome scene, which got many animal lovers angry.
Officials in Washington, said that a man was riding his bike on the property that belonged to the Department of Natural Resources in Thurston, when he stumbled about the gruesome scene.
The man called police after finding the pit bull that was brutally raped and murdered by hanging it from a tree, police said. The dog’s legs were just inches off the ground and its leash was tied to a tree branch.
The dog appears to have been “severely sexually abused” while still alive and restrained. The dog later died of asphyxiation after being hung from the tree.
“This is a truly horrific situation in all aspects,” the humane society’s Washington director Dan Paul said.
“To think about the suffering this dog experienced in the final moments, as well as knowing there is an individual or individuals in our state who would perpetrate this type of abuse, is sickening,” Paul said.
The Humane Society announced that it is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest and conviction of the person responsible for the acts.
“We are hopeful this reward will bring someone forward with information about this despicable crime,” Paul added.
