(Scroll down for video) Police in New York, have released photos of a man who sexually assaulted a transgender woman at a gay bar.
Police said that they have video footage, showing the man lurking around the unisex bathroom at the Stonewall Inn, before attacking the woman.
The 25-year-old woman was seen entering the bathroom, and was soon followed by the man, who is believed to be in his 30s.
They remained in the single occupancy bathroom for about 8 minutes. That’s when the alleged rape took place. The suspect was seen exiting the bathroom before walking back in.
The victim told her friends what occurred and they called police. Gay people expressed their shock as the attack took place where the gay rights movement was born.
They said that Stonewall Inn “is a place where they were supposed to feel safe and where everyone is accepted for who they are.”
Police are asking people to help them identify the suspect, who is a regular at the bar. He is described as a Hispanic male, about 5 foot 10 inches tall and he weighs about 250 pounds.
The suspect was wearing a shiny gray suit at the time, police said.
