A dog owner called the police to report that his pet brought home a bag of marijuana, according to a police report in Mississippi.
The Jones County Sheriff's Office said that officers went to the home of the dog that brought its owner a gift.
The owner told the officers that his dog brought home the bag, and he first thought it was just garbage. When he looked inside, he saw leaves and it smelled like marijuana.
He immediately called the police. Officers confirmed that the bag contained about a pounds of marijuana. No charges were filed.
“On Saturday, Jones County Deputies were dispatched to the 200th block of Will Hayes Road. The owner of a family pet brought to the home a large bag with a substance that was believed to be marijuana.
“The owner thought it was a bag of trash the dog had brought from somewhere nearby and tore open at the house. When the owner got a closer look, he smelled what he thought was marijuana.
He then saw the leafy substance. It is not known from where the bag was retrieved,” the Jones County Sheriff's Office said in a statement.
