(Scroll down for video) Police launched an investigation after three young girls tried to kill their classmate by poisoning her food with silica gel, police in Alaska said.
The Anchorage Police Department said that the three 6-year-old girls were not arrested, but officers spoke to them about the seriousness of their plot.
According to Winterberry Charter School Principal Shanna Mall, the girls planned to use silica gel packs, commonly found in bottles of medicines and pre-packaged foods to keep away moisture, to kill their classmate.
While silica gel is non-toxic, the tiny beads can get lodged in the throat and represent a choking hazard, especially for young children.
The girls thought that silica gel is toxic.
The school has 228 students, with a waiting list of more than 400. The three girls will return to school after their suspension period.
