(Scroll down for video) A woman was arrested on a charge of robbery after allegedly robbing a 103-year-old woman on her way home from playing bingo, police in New York said.
The New York Police Department said that they have arrested 53-year-old Sharon McNeil of the Bronx, after being accused of robbing and beating Louise Signore, in the elevator of her apartment building.
McNeil was charged with assault, robbery and harassment. She was booked into jail, and her bail was set at $100,000.
According to the police investigation, the incident unfolded on Friday afternoon, after Signore played bingo with other senior citizens.
McNeil followed Signore into the elevator of the apartment building and then attacked. The attack came without warning.
McNeil pushed Signore to the ground, causing injuries to the head and legs. McNeil then fled from the scene with the victim’s shopping cart containing two meals.
McNeil also grabbed her purse containing $35 and bingo cards.
