PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) has issued a warning to parents to stop feeding boys chicken because eating it would cause their private parts to remain small, according to a message the group wrote on Twitter.

The claim is based on a study linking phthalates, a chemical used in plastic, to hindering the growth of the fetus.

Many people criticized the message, including vegans, saying that PETA seems to be mocking those men with small manhoods instead of warning about the dangers of chemicals in food.

The 2008 study claimed that an increase in phthalates consumption by pregnant women hurts the size of their child’s manhood.

The study did not mention the words chicken or poultry.

Phthalates are typically found in such things as detergents, hair sprays and plastic coats, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Phthalates can make its way into foods and beverages that have been in contact with the plastic. As for poultry goes, it may be contaminated with phthalates during the packaging process.
