A man shot and killed his girlfriend because he was fed up of fighting with her.
Police in Alabama, said that the mother of three children was killed in front of her children during an incident of domestic violence.
38-year-old Jody Marie Watson was shot dead inside the home shared with her boyfriend in Jefferson County.
Jeremy Hardin, 39, was arrested and his bond was set at $50,000. He has not yet been charged with the crime.
Police said that Hardin called 911 on Thursday, and said that he shot his girlfriend. At the same time of his 911 call, a second call came in from a neighbor who said that Watson’s two children came to ask them to call for help because her mother had been shot.
The children who witnessed the shooting are 7 and 10 years old. When police arrived at 3:30 p.m., they found Watson dead on the kitchen floor.
Chief Deputy Randy Christian said that the children were not injured and were placed in the custody of a family member.
Watson’s oldest son was in school at the time of the incident. Hardin is not the father of the children.
Christian said that the two children who witnessed the shooting, said that Hardin came up to their mother from behind and shot her in the head.
Hardin reportedly told police that they had a history of fighting and he just wanted it to end it.
The couple was known to police as officers have responded to the home on three previous occasions for domestic violence incidents with the latest reportedly taking place less than one month ago.
