A woman of New Jersey, was shocked to discover that her boyfriend is gay and set her home on fire.

The mother of two children set fire to her apartment after discovering that her boyfriend is gay and he is in relationships with other men, according to her attorney Caroline Turner.

Police were called to the first block of North Gouverneur Avenue and found 25-year-old Lakishette Williams, inside her apartment while two fires were burning in separate rooms, Lt. Stephen Varn said.

Williams was arrested on a charge of aggravated arson.

Investigators said that they found evidence that the first fire was set on a stovetop in the kitchen, where they discovered remnants of charred paper on a burner.

They also found broken glass and more burning papers in the living room along with an aerosol can nearby, prosecutors said.

The woman's attorney said that she was not trying to set the apartment on fire. She was just burning love letters from her boyfriend after learning about his sexuality.

A judge set Williams' bail at $35,000.
