A retired police officer was treated for poisoning after he was convicted of sexually assaulting a child.
The former officer of Georgia, who was found guilty of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl, drank the poison in court as the verdict was announced, officials said.
58-year-old Kelless Twohearts Lory of Stone Mountain, was convicted of two counts of aggravated child abuse and two counts of child molestation in DeKalb County Court.
While the jury read the verdict, Lory began drinking from a bottle, which seemed to be an over the counter vitamin. However, it was soon discovered that the content was a poisonous liquid.
Lory was transported to the Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment, and he survived.
Lory has not yet been sentenced, but he is facing two life terms plus 40 years in prison for sexually abusing his 9-year-old
