A woman was arrested on a charge of arson after allegedly setting fire to her rented home because she found a bug, police in West Virginia said.
Barbour County police said that they have arrested 65-year-old Sandra Kay Ward, after being accused of intentionally setting her home on fire because she was mad at her landlord.
Ward was charged with one count of arson. She was booked into the Tygart Valley Regional Jail, and her bail was set at $20,000.
According to the police investigation, firefighters responded to the scene of the fire in the mobile home located at 10 Mile Road.
During an interview with an investigator, Ward said that she found a cockroach earlier in the morning, and got mad at the landlord.
She was upset with the owner because it was the fourth or fifth cockroach she had found since moving into the home. Ward set fire to papers and carpet that were on the floor of the kitchen.
She also placed a basket in front of the bathtub and set it on fire. She then set fire to her bed along the wall.
