(Scroll down for video) A mother and her son have been arrested on a charge of kidnapping after allegedly abducting a teenage girl in order to rape her, police in Japan said.
Toyama police said that they have arrested 25-year-old Ryo Watanabe and 48-year-old Yoshie Watanabe, after being accused of kidnapping the 13-year-old girl and keeping her locked up in their apartment for 30 days.
Investigators believe that the mother and son planned to rape the girl. According to the police investigation, the girl was abducted while walking home from school last month.
The girl’s family filed a missing persons report, and police found the girl in the suspects’ apartment this week. The girl was handed over to the custody of her parents.
Police said that the girl wasn't raped. It is not known why the suspects have not acted on their original plan to rape the girl together.
The mother and son first met the girl on a phone application called Line.
