(Scroll down for video) A man was arrested on a charge of wounding after pouring a pot of boiling water on his colleague because he ate half of the hot dog from his girlfriend's plate, police in New Zealand said.
Now, 28-year-old Kian-wee Show of Whakatu, has been sentenced to serve 5 and a half years in prison after pleading guilty to wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
According to the police investigation, Bin Wu had worked with Show for about a month, and their relationship was one in which they exchanged hellos or good mornings.
During lunch at the company cafeteria, Show approached Wu, and poured hot water on his head. Show was angry that Wu had eaten half of his girlfriend’s hot dog the previous day.
Wu said that he suffered extreme pain. Wu was taken to the Hutt Valley Hospital, where he remained for a week. After the incident, he did not return to work for three months.
In a video of the attack, Show can be seen sitting at a table in the cafeteria, eating lunch with coworkers. Wu is sitting at a table about 15 feet away, with his back to Show.
Show then picked up a bucket and approaches a hot water dispenser mounted on the wall. He poured about half a gallon of boiling water into the bucket before calmly walking toward Wu.
He then poured the water over Wu’s over his head and back.
Wu immediately jumped up and started screaming. Show then calmly returned to his table and resumed eating his lunch.
