A woman was arrested on a charge of murder after stabbing her husband to death because he refused to show her the text messages he got on his phone, police in Zimbabwe said.

Now, 36-year-old Fortunate Nsoro of Chitungwiza, has been sentenced to serve 10 years in jail after being convicted of culpable homicide in connection with the stabbing death of 55-year-old Petros Mutasa, who was killed in front of his 8-year-old daughter.

According to the police investigation, around 7:00 p.m., the couple was in their bedroom when Mutasa received a text message on his mobile phone.

Nsoro demanded to read the message, but her husband refused. He also refused to disclose the content of the message.

A fight broke out, and Mutasa beta up his wife. Nsoro ran to the kitchen and returned armed with three kitchen knives, which she used to stab her husband.

A neighbor who heard screams, called the police who arrested Nsoro. Mutasa was taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.

Autopsy results showed that the cause of death was due to lacerations, contusions, abrasions and cuts consistent with the use of sharp force.
