A family finally saw justice be served after a man was arrested for killing their loved one by kicking him in the groin.
According to police in Ohio, Willie Cannon, 64, was attending the birthday party of his niece when a man approached him and demanded his money.
The men were near East 65th Street and Lansing Avenue, when Jackie Pierce, 58, of Cleveland, was approached by the victim and ordered him to hand over his money.
However, when Cannon refused, Pierce repeatedly kicked him in the groin. When the victim was unable to move, Pierce grabbed the money from Cannon's pockets.
Cannon sustained a ruptured right testicle that became sepsis from gangrene. He eventually died from his injuries, police said.
Pierce was indicted by the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas for two counts of murder, one count of felonious assault, and one count of robbery.
It took prosecutors three years from the incident to finally file charges against the suspect.
Joseph Frolik, who is the spokesperson for the Cuyahoga County prosecutor’s office, said that the time between Cannon’s death and the indictment is “not really that unusual.”
He said that it took until now for detectives to put together a case against the suspect.
