A popular department store in Australia, has pulled all broccoli from its shelves after customers found dead spiders crawling in their vegetables.

Woolworths has withdrawn the broccoli after consumers found redback spiders in the product.

The recall has affected its stores in Queensland, and some locations in New South Wales.

Maurice Wilson, who bought broccoli at the store, said that the deadly spider jumped onto his hands while chopping the vegetable.

A spokesperson for Woolworths said that following the discovery, the product has been temporarily suspended until it can pinpoint the problem.

After his encounter with the deadly spider, Wilson contacted the store, and he received a $20 gift card for the inconvenience.

Wilson then got in touch with the main office, and he received a $30 gift card. Producers said that they use spiders as a form of pest control as they eat bugs.
