A girl was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries to her legs after being eaten by a tiger, police in Russia said.
13-year-old Elizaveta Kutkina was visiting a zoo in Barnaul, where the tiger grabbed her coat, pulled her closer to its cage and chewed on her legs in front of horrified visitors.
It took more than 40 minutes to pull away the girl from the tiger. Kutkina was rushed to the hospital, where doctors performed surgery to save her legs.
Doctors believe that the tiger was unable to bite off the girl’s legs because it could not pull the victim into the cage. Zoo officials said that the tiger will not be executed because the girl and her friend banged on the tiger’s cage before it attacked.
The zoo’s director said that the girl’s actions were childish and stupid. Police have launched an investigation into the incident on suspicion of negligence.
