80-year-old man loses control over his car and crashes after dropping ice cream on his pants while driving

An elderly man was rushed to a hospital in serious condition after losing control of his car while driving, police in California said.

According to the San Bernardino police, the 80-year-old man crashed into a light pole after the ice cream he was eating fell into his pants.

The incident unfolded on Saturday around 3:00 p.m.

Police officers were called to the parking lot of the Granite Centergate LLC store located in the 900 block of Ninth Street, on a report of a car collision.

Witnesses at the scene said that the victim was driving east on Ninth Street, when he dropped his ice cream, causing him to lose control of the vehicle.

He ran over a curb and hit a light pole, landing in the parking lot of the store. The victim was transported to the Loma Linda University Medical Center, where he is said to be in serious condition.

Doctors expect him to recover.
